Authistic: Down Under!

Kept you waiting, huh?

Yes, I’m back and writing once again. Knowing how long it can take me to adjust to big changes, I somewhat expected a blackout in my ability to produce media.

I was hoping I could at least hold out long enough to conclude my Fit For Oz series. Whoops. I’m planning on writing a wrap-up post for that. Here’s a summary: It went super, super well, except for the part where I documented the stuff I did.

Well, my head’s clear now, and it’s pretty good timing. Thanks the differing school years of Wales and Australia, my summer break has been exceptionally short! I’m already in the middle of week 1 here in Deakin University, Melbourne.

I can’t believe I’ve already been in Australia for three weeks. I’ve biked through Melbourne while fearing for my life, I’ve tried my hand -mostly unsucessfully – at surfing, I’ve found my home for the next year and I’ve made a lot of friends.

It feels strange to say it, but I already feel more at home here than I have for the past year or so living back in Colwyn Bay. It felt like isolation in comparison. I have a full year ahead of me, and a whole lot could happen in that time… but I wonder if I’ll dread going back. I kind of already feel it.

I’ll post a travelogue of my actual journey tomorrow. I have most of it already written up, and a bunch of pictures to upload. No excuses! Gotta get this ball rolling again. If there’s anything I’ve learned from writing this blog, it’s that good habits are hard to establish and easy to disrupt.

Oh, expect a post about how I’ve seen autism effect me in this move. And some media reviews as well. Currently up for consideration: Games like Her Story and Crypt Of The NecroDancer, shows like Blood Blockade Battlefront, and… Brooklyn Nine-Nine?

Crap, I only had to mention it and now I’ve got the Brooklyn Nine-Nine theme stuck in my head. My beautiful curse.

Watch this space!
